Battery life has always been one of the strongest points of the Motorola Droid Turbo. At 3900mAh, it can last up to 28 days on standby and two days with careful use. The fact that it comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display and quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and charges rapidly with the unique Turbo Charger gives it even more edge over pricier competition. However, after installing the latest update, Droid Turbo users have begun complaining.

Specifically, Tech Times, citing people who have banded at the XDA Developers forum, noted that users are encountering significant reduction in battery life, sluggish Turbo charging speed, and slow data speed.

A user, mcdevil58, was quoted saying he never experienced slower charging since the update. "If i unplug at 8 am with 100% I have been at 40-35% at 2 pm with only 1.5-2 hours on screen time".

The Motorola Droid Turbo has been released October of 2014, but since then, its faithful users have never been granted an update-until today. Bypassing two updates, the Turbo has jumped from 4.4 Kitkat to 5.1 Lollipop. According to Motorola, the update is meant to provide the usual bug fixes along with a host of new features such as notification and interruption priorities, Moto Display and Ambient Display, Device Protection with which lost or stolen devices will remain locked until you sign in with your Google account, even if reset to factory settings, and Smart Lock, which provides native support for allowing trusted devices (Moto 360,  Bluetooth headset, etc.) to keep your phone unlocked.

Given the desirable features and the delay in release, anticipation and excitement have inevitably built. Thus, the negative issues surrounding the update have come as a disappointment.

At the moment, Gotta Be Mobile recommends factory data reset as a solution to those dealing with the battery problems and a precaution for users who are still considering whether to install the Droid Turbo 5.1 update or not.
