Black Panther, the heroic leader of Wakanda will soon have his own stand alone film, but before that, he is set to debut in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. Marvel President Kevin Feige recently revealed how they cast actor Chadwick Boseman for the role while the wait for the movie's director continues as Ava DuVernay declines to helm the movie.

T'Challa, or otherwise known as Black Panther to Marvel fans will appear in the MCU real soon in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, and Kevin Feige said that he is set to bring a fresh perspective on the rift between Captain America and Iron Man. "You know what? We're doing a 'Black Panther' movie, but it would actually be smart to have him fill this role we need in 'Civil War' and introduce him here first. So it always just depends on the story and the way we want to tell the story," Feige said.

While many believe that Chadwick Boseman suits the role very well, Feige revealed that they did not have any other actors in mind when they casted Boseman for the role. "We just called Chadwick. He was the only choice," said Feige. "He had just done the red carpet (for Get On  Up), and instead of going into the theater he went back into his car because we had a call scheduled with him, and we said, 'Have you ever heard of this character Black Panther, and do you want to do it?' And he said, 'Yes!' and it was done" and just like that, Marvel quickly found their Black Panther.

Meanwhile,  it has been confirmed that Selma director Ava DuVernay, is not directing the film due to creative differences between her and the studio. DuVernay declared the news during the weekend, "I guess I'll declare my independence from this rumor on Fourth of July weekend and Essence weekend, I'm not signing on to direct Black Panther." she said.

"I think I'll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be, Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they're fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me." she said explaining why she declined to take the project.

"I loved meeting Chadwick and writers and all the Marvel execs. In the end, it comes down to story and perspective. And we just didn't see eye to eye. Better for me to realize that now than cite creative differences later. ... I love the character of Black Panther, the nation of Wakanda and all that that could be visually. I wish them well and will be first in line to see it." Duvernay revealed.

While the wait continues for the director and other cast members of the movie, Black Panther will appear in the big screen on May 6, 2016 for Captain America: Civil War. More about the world of the King of Wakanda will be revealed in his stand alone film written by Mark Bailey, and is set to hit theaters in July 6, 2018.
