"NCIS" season 13 will pick up right where the last season left off, which means on the aftermath of Gibb's shooting. Creator Gary Glasberg hints some scenes on the new season's episodes and says Tony DiNozzo will step up and go after the leader of the group who planned to shoot Gibbs.

Clearly, the audience will get a hint immediately just how bad Gibbs' situation is during the opener of "NCIS" season 13 as Showrunner Gary Glasberg said they plan to deal with the cliffhanger left by the season 12 finale.

All fans of the show will remember (and possibly won't forget) that the last season ended with Agent Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon) getting shot in a marketplace in Iraq by a boy he grew fond of. It left the show's diehards devastated definitely but good thing, Glasberg does not plan to prolong their agony.

In an interview with FOX News, "NCIS" boss mentioned some of his interesting plans for the show's 13th season, especially with its first episode.

"We will pick up right where we left off for the season opener. We will wrap that storyline up early on," said Glassberg. "As I have done historically, I will probably get into six or seven episodes of more traditional storytelling and into the background of our characters and whatnot, and then figure out what's next and launch something significant."

Since Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) is in contact with the leader of The Calling, Daniel Budd (Giles Matthey), he will engage into some action as he will take the lead, Glasberg added.

We previously reported the possibility that Mark Harmon won't appear on the show when it returns on CBS this fall. During one of his interviews, Harmon hints that his character's fate does not really rely on him. Although, the actor thinks every character in the show is replaceable.

CBS greenlighted "NCIS season 13 " as the series remains the most watched scripted drama with an average of 3 million viewers among adults 18-49. In fact, the series ranks as the most watched show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fans who are itching to know Gibbs' fate in "NCIS" season 13 will have to wait a little longer as the series is slated to return on CBS this September. But creator Gary Glassberg hints that they will immediately deal with Gibb's situation as Tony DiNozzo goes after The Calling leader when the new season premieres.
