The fans of "Star Wars" may have prayed that Warwick Davis' character in the highly anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" does not necessarily involve the marketing-friendly Ewoks from "The Return of Jedi". However, it looks like they are about to be disappointed as new promotional materials for the film show that the actor will reprise his role of Wicket the Ewok.

A photo posted by Making Star Wars shows that Davis' character name in a press book distributed on the Japanese press tour for the sequel was listed as Wicket. Although the image of the booklet was low-quality and most text was written in Japanese, the character names can still be read clearly.

It may have been disappointing for some but this revelation is no longer a surprise for those who watched the trailer of the forthcoming film.  As per The Mary Sue's report, the teaser included a shot of a melted Darth Vader mask which predicts that at least a part of the film will feature Ewok's home on the forest moon of Endor.

It was already noted earlier by Comic Book Resources that former "Star Wars" actor Warwick Davis has a role in the forthcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" but no further information regarding his character has been disclosed until the photo was revealed.

The 45-year old actor is already known to have played a few characters in 1999's "The Phantom of Menace" but became well-known for playing the role of Wicket the Ewok in 1983's "The Return of Jedi" and a few TV movies including "The Ewok Adventure" and "Ewoks: The Battle of Endor".

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the forthcoming film stars Adam Driver ("While We're Young", "Hungry Hearts"), Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave", "Non-Stop"), Gwendoline Christie ("Game of Thrones"), Oscar Isaac ("Ex Machina", "A Most Violent Year"), Harrison Ford ("Age of Adeline", "Ender's Game"), Carrie Fisher("Wishful Thinking", "Fanboys"), Andy Serkis ("The Hobbit", "Rise of the Planet Apes"), Peter Mayhew and Daisy Ridley.

"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens"  is expected to hit theaters on Dec. 18.
