Pacific Rim 2 is already confirmed and is currently in the making. Guillermo del Toro, the upcoming movie's director as well as the director of the previous movie revealed some facts regarding the upcoming sequel of the blockbuster action-adventure movie of 2013 Pacific Rim.

According to Del Toro, Pacific Rim 2 will be very different from the first Pacific Rim, casts and characters that the fans had come to love might or might not appear because he is hoping he could use them at the end of Pacific Rim to serve as a springboard to a possible third sequel of the movie.

Recently is was revealed that two of the stars of the previous movie has been signed to do the second installation of the film, the two actors namely; Charlie Day who portrays the role of Newton Geiszler a scientist who works in the K-Science Lab of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps and Burn Gorman who plays the role of Hermann Gottlieb who alongside Geiszler also works for the K-Science Lab of the Pan Pacific Defense.

Del Torro had also revealed some small details regarding the upcoming movie, stating that it will not be an immediate follow-up of the previous movie but will instead pick up a few years after that, "It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after- what happends to Jeager technology once the Kaiju are not a threat. It's quite a jump," Del Torro added.

Just last October 2014 Del Torro managed to give a very specific timeline for the production of the movie. According to the film director, the first draft of the movie will run until March before they could start with the pre-production which will begin around August-September and the shooting will be by November-December of this year.
