Criminal Minds season 11 Preveiw: Old cast, new guest stars to fill in Jennifer Love Hewitt's exit; EP teases what to expect in the upcoming installment
Criminal Minds season 11 is finally confirmed and so is the departure and leave of some characters of the show. How will the show cope up with it? What's in store for the fans on the upcoming season and will there be new casts for season 11? Executive producer Erica Messer provided answers for those questions and reveals some spoilers about season 11.
Recently, Jennifer Love Hewitt who portrays the role of Kate announced her departure from the show after the season finale of the show. Hewitt who is pregnant with her second child opted to focus on her pregnancy and chose not to participate on the upcoming season.
Also, Hewitt's co-actress and Criminal Minds' regular actress AJ Cook who plays the role of Jennifer Jareu had also announced her pregnancy and her decision to take a maternal leave. Messer then clarified this stating that although AJ will be gone for the first few episodes of the show, the actress will be taking part in the upcoming season.
About how the exit of Jennifer Love Hewitt's character will go about, Messer had clarified that the writers are thinking of something creative other than killing the character because according to her the production team likes to bring back familiar faces from previous seasons and keep the door open for the coming and going of characters.
Furthermore, Messer had expressed her shock on the happenings stating that none of the team can actually believed that they'd end up with two pregnant actress by the end of season 10 and that maybe if they're lucky enough to continue until season 12, Hewitt's character might end up coming back to the show.
Also, when asked whether there will be a replacement of Hewitt's character, Messer had expressed that possible reoccurring of old casts and characters including guests stars might be fun and fill the missing place Hewitt will be leaving to them.
