The merger of US Airways Group Inc and American Airlines would create the world's biggest air carrier. In a recent announcement, they have named the executives to lead their integration team. Scott Kirby, current president of US Airways and Bev Goulet, chief restructuring officer at American's AMR Corp would work together to develop plans for the merger.

The US$11 billion merger is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2013. The task ahead is quite enormous, with the merger expecting to generate more than US$38 billion in revenue, well ahead of nearest competitor United Continental Holdings. The merger talks commenced when American filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and US Airways became the choice for the merger.

Other personalities joining the restructuring team are Doug Parker, US Airways CEO and Tom Horton CEOs for American Airlines.  The team would also be working alongside an external merger project management firm.
