The "Avatar 2" movie has been constantly rumored to be coming out in the cinemas soon, but will later on be moved forward to a later date. This time around, with four sequels slated for the film, a 2017 release is most likely possible for James Cameron's movie masterpiece.

At present, the much anticipated "Avatar 2" movie sequel is scheduled for Christmas 2017. It was earlier rumored to be released back in 2014 but did not materialize. The sequel for the 2009 "Avatar" movie may seem to be way overdue, but a big following of the series are still looking forward to its release.

The movie "Avatar" remains to be the highest grossing movie ever made. Unfortunately, it did not take the advantage of creating a sequel, right after the successful release of the first movie. Its famous director has decided to spend a considerable time creating a sequel for the movie, leading to a second sequel, a third one and a rumored fifth sequel completing the "Avatar" series.

Three movie sequels were initially developed for the "Avatar" movie sequels. Luckily due to extensive planning and development, the screenwriters managed to create script material enough for four movies, thus creating the assumption of a possible "Avatar 4" movie on the way.

"Right now, Jim has got four sequels, script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three. And that's where his effort is going, right now, to keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on. How do you keep it from expanding into yet a fourth movie-a fifth movie, I guess, total. He'll get that sorted out," according to James Horner, one of Cameron's collaborators.

Meanwhile James Cameron's talent is so trusted and a guaranteed success is already expected for the "Avatar" sequels. This talent and box-office topping capability is making him get away with a delayed release for the movie. "Avatar 2" is expected to be released this coming Christmas of 2017. "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" on the other hand is slated for a 2018 and 2019 release. The rumored "Avatar 5" film will most likely have a 2020 premiere. The "Avatar 2" movie will be filmed in New Zealand and will highlight a saga of sorts. This saga is expected to be interconnected in the upcoming four movie sequels. Is a united universe also something to look forward in the "Avatar" anthology?

Whether there are four or three "Avatar" sequels on the way, knowing the fact that there is a sequel movie scheduled for 2017, "Avatar 2" is enough to keep fans of the earlier movie excited. Hopefully, the 2017 schedule premiere for the movie will not be pushed on a later date anymore.
