Neither a PS4 Slim launching is happening at this year's E3 event, nor can a Playstation 5 release be expected. This was confirmed after Sony announced that it will not be holding a press conference at this year's Gamescom, another event that Sony had been using for the announcement of its flagship consoles and their slimmer versions.

Sony's skipping of its participation at the upcoming Gamescom event which will start on August 5, however, does not mean that the company has no big announcement to make this year. The company simply does not feel that neither the Gamescom, nor the E3 event which will begin on June 16, are the perfect timing for that big announcement. So instead of participating in those events, Sony will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on October 27.

"With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming," Sony revealed in an interview. The big question is, what is it in store for Playstation users this 2015? Will it be a PS5 October release?

Any game console user will be able to tell that a PS5 2015 release is too early. But who knows? For the PS4 slim launching, Sony may have a different reason to delay its release this year. The PS4 has reached a milestone as it has already recorded 2 million sales in the UK after 18 months sinced it was released. As such, it has outranked the PS2 as the best-selling console in Britain.

PlayStation's UK boss Fergal Gara told MCV that this is "an achievement we are very proud of." PS4 has hit its 1m milestone after 42 weeks, and the 2m milestone after 75 weeks on sale. These figures were provided by retail sales tracker GfK Chart-Track, and on their estimates for the total UK market. It has now sold 22.3m consoles worldwide.

With the PS4 still doing well in the market, Sony's very much likely to postpone the rumored 2015 launching of the Ps4 Slim like what Apple did with iPod Touch 6 to gve way for iPhone 6. Could the Playstation 5 October release be that big news Sony was refering at during its announcement for the Paris Games Week event?
