The "X-Men" fandom must have been appeased as before the official production of the new installment "X-Men: Apocalypse," director Bryan Singer posted an Instagram promo clip of actor Kodi Smit-McPhee as young Nightcrawler on Monday. In a separate tweet, the director wrote "Catch him before he's gone" and stayed true to his word as the clip vanished almost as quickly as it went up.

The Instagram clip featuring Nightcrawler shows Smit-McPhee in blue and dressed like a kid from the '80s. This is because "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set in the 1980s era. He is donned in a modern jacket with matching corduroy pants and is somewhat similar to what is featured in the comics. Like most of the characters in the franchise, fans are excited with the appearance of the blue mutant as they haven't seen him in a movie for over a decade.

Nightcrawler, also known as Kurt Wagner, is a blue-skinned mutant with teleportation abilities and has ultrafast agility. He is also a German acrobat in the circus and a devout Catholic. He was introduced to the X-Men comics in 1975. An older version of Nightcrawler was first played by Alan Cumming in "X2: X-Men United" in 2003. In the new "X-Men" film, he is being played by 18-year-old Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee, who also happened to be in the new film "Slow West" with "X-Men" cast mate Michael Fassbender. Smit-McPhee likewise shadowed director Singer as he posted a photo of himself as the blue mutant.

Young X-Men Spotted In A Mall Trip In The First Day of Filming

Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" began production on Monday, and as a result of that, the actors who are playing the young versions of X-Men heroes were spotted taking a stroll in their best '80s fashion. In a photo, Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Jubilee (Lana Condor) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) are wearing their signature look in the comics. Jubilee wears a yellow jacket and sunglasses on her head while Nightcrawler stands out with his blue skin and red jacket.

Turner's bright red hair as Jean Grey is also noticeable. No one knows if she recently had it dyed or if it's a wig, but it's apparently brighter than what she had in her role as Sansa Stark in the popular TV series "Game Of Thrones."

Smit-McPhee will be starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as the young Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, and among others. The "X-Men" film is slated for a May 27, 2016 release date. It is currently being filmed at La Cité du Cinéma in Montreal.

Will Kodi Smit-McPhee be a good fit to play Nightcrawler? Do you think he can give justice to the role as what Alan Cumming did? More intriguingly, will Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, and Lana Condor play well their respective roles? Let's wait for the release and see for yourself.
