Hail, anime fans! The long-awaited season 2 to the hit post-apocalyptic anime series Attack on Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) is confirmed to be on its way next year.

On the opening day of the compilation film "Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow" last November in Japan, director Tetsuro Araki confirmed that the second series of the anime wouldn't premiere until next year 2016. Speculations have been made and some suspect that the second series might air on April to September 2016.

Araki also announced that the second anime compilation film, Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom (Shingeki no Kyojin Kohen: Jiyu no Tsubasa), is set to release later this June 27, 2015.

Based on Hajime Isayama's manga, Attack on Titan now on its highly anticipated season 2, tells the story of a boy named Eren who joins the Survey Corps in order to protect humanity against the unexplainable, giant, man-eating, Titans. Throughout the series Eren discovers shocking things about the titans that no man has ever witnessed, like humans being able to shift themselves into titans too.

The first anime series ended in late 2013 and in order to satiate the thirst they have for the second series, fans are left to watch a spinoff anime that aired on December of last year, "Attack on Titan: No Regrets" (Shingeki no Kyojin Gaiden: Kuinaki Sentaku). The plot follows the life of Levi and his journey in the Survey Corps before meeting Eren and Mikasa.

It gives a preview of what Levi was like before he met Erwin and joined the Survey Corps. A second installment of the prequel was released last April 9, 2015, following the life of Levi and his first encounter with a titan.

Attack on Titan is now gearing up for season 2 and such creation has evolved from a manga series but now has developed into light novels, an anime television series, live action films, video games, and a theme park with a life-sized titan in Universal Studios, Japan.
