If the Marvel has cinematic universe of super heroes, Disney seems following their lead with their plans to produce live action adaptation of renowned fairy tales.  According to some reports, Disney is eyeing to retell the story of Chinese warrior Hua Mulan with real actress to portray it.  

Hollywood Reporter shared that Disney is now working to make live action Mulan come true with first buying the script written by team of Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin.  HR added the J.C Spink and Chris Bender will produce this project.

In 1998, the animated version of 'Mulan' featured Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ming-Na Wen (acting) and Broadway actress Lea Salonga (singing) as voices for Fa Mulan.  The film reaped nominations from Golden Globe and Academy Award and bagged $304.3 million worldwide. In 2009, 'So Close' and 'Shaolin Soccer' actress Vicki Zhao of top billed Chinese live action film 'Mulan: Rise of a Warrior.'   

The live action of Mulan is just an addition to Disney's upcoming projects like 'Beauty and the Beast' which is slated to hit cinemas in March 17, 2017 as reported by HR. The said movie will star 'Harry Potter' actress Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens and Audra McDonald.  Bill Condon of 'Dreamgirls' and 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' will direct the film.  In Entertainment Weekly's account, Tim Burton is tap by Disney to do 'Dumbo.'   In addition to this, 'The Jungle Book' and another 'Alice in Wonderland' film are scheduled to release next year.

Checking old accounts of already released movies based on fairy tales, USA Today shared that 2010's film 'Alice in Wonderland' gained staggering $1.02 billion, while Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent' earned $758 million last year. Jolie bagged Kids' Choice Awards for her villain role in the said Disney movie. Meantime, Lily James-starred film 'Cinderella' is now reaching more than $335 million sales.
