Kendrick Lamar newest album 'To Pimp A Butterfly' has seen to be one of the biggest success in music industry. After the success it had with its unexpected release last week, the recent effort now tops UK album chart.
Sales of Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp a Butterfly' have garnered huge success, after his record breaking Spotify figures. Compton rapper's third album debuts at No 1 in the UK album charts. Reuters reported that Lamar scored his first British number one album on Sunday knocked Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hours" off the top spot in its first week of release, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.
The follow-up to his 2012 debut had already broken international records for Spotify when it was streamed more than 9.6 million times on the service last week.
Meanwhile, the British singer-songwriter Sam Smith, however, maintained his position at the top of the Official Singles Chart for a second week with his collaboration with John Legend, 'Lay Me Down'.
On the other report, Kendrick Lamar hosts well-attended album signing at a Compton Best Buy last Saturday.
According to a report, there was an estimated 2,500 waited in line for Lamar's Saturday album signing at a Best Buy. Compton is Lamar's hometown. And it was his first public appearance since the release of 'To Pimp A Butterfly' last week.
Lamar expressed his gratitude to be back in his hometown, and how kids are motivated by music, by his dreams and aspirations, as reported by ABC.
Kendrick had only words of thanks and praise for his fans."I wanna say thank you. Thank you for believing in me since day one. I've been doing my thing on the underground scene for years, you know, proud to be putting out any albums. These the same people that have been rocking with me so I want to say thank you for believing in me and I believe in you the same, so as long as we believe in each other, I will continue to do this music."
