Ever wanted to own the world's most valuable selfie? It just be possible- legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin is auctioning off a photo he took of himself in space in 1966 during the Gemini mission, decades before selfies were ever a thing. Aldrin had apparently joked about the photo before, tweeting it with the caption "BEST SELFIE EVER," but now he's actually auctioning off the original pic to whomever's most interested in own a piece of spacefaring- and selfie-taking- history.

According to Quartz,the auction will actually contain more than 600 photos, all from NASA and all vintage keepsakes in their own right. The pics will be auctioned off this week by Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions at their auction house in London. And while Quartz expects each photo to sell for between $465 and $15,490 , that would make the combined total price for the photos somewhere in the ballpark of $775,000. And we're guessing the famous selfie's probably going to rack up a pretty steep price on its own.

Fast Company, however, thinks the photos may sell for as high as $1,000,000- and also has some information on the photos from the official auction catalogue.

"This major private collection of over 650 lots is comprehensive in its coverage of the space programme, from the early days of Mercury, through the technical advances of Gemini and Lunar Orbiter, to the triumphs of Apollo. The sale features both iconic images from the golden age of space exploration and a large number of rare photographs which were virtually unpublished at the time, including one legendary rarity, the only clear photograph of Neil Armstrong on the Moon."

Amazingly, Buzz Aldrin's space-selfie isn't the only selfie being taken in space right now. Apparently, a Mars rover has just done the same thing (according to Space.com). Who knows? One day, that rover's photo might sell for as much as Aldrin's incredible space-selfie.
