Good news for LG G3 owners from Sprint in the US-the wait is over as the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now made available starting today.

LG started a few weeks ago that the update is coming soon. Last week, AT&T first offered the latest Lollipop update for LG G3 smartphones.

LG's brand new flagship smartphone is one of the best overall devices in 2014 with its top-tier specs, 5.5-inch QHD display, and ultra-small sized bezels.

In December 2014, Android 5.0 Lollipop update first hit Poland, South Korea, India and some European countries.

Sprint also pre-empted the firmware for Samsung's Galaxy S5 with almost the same features.

LG G3 smartphones can be downloaded through over-the-air (OTA) update.

The latest roll out for the Sprint device can be done in phases which will possibly last for over a month. When the system update notification pops up, tap on it and follow onscreen instructions.

To manually update you device's operating system, here's a good way to go:

1.     Go to "Settings."

2.     Click "System Updates."

3.     Click "Update LG Software."

4.     Choose "Check for Update."

Sprint did not indicate memory space size needed in the update, Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3 is expected to require a large amount of space, which normally reaches from 800MB to 1GB.

Mobile carrier Sprint brings LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update major changes and enhancements.

  • Material Design UI (For fluid animations, 3D views, and multicolored themes)
  • Optimized battery use
  • Support for Android TV
  • Lock screen notifications
  • Customizable options with prioritized notifications (For events, reminders, messages, and calls)
  • Enhanced Accessibility (For low vision and color blind)
  • Tweaked location menu
  • Upgraded Google Mobile service

On top of that, many of the LG native apps have been updated in the biggest Android software update, including the custom skin.

Verizon has also hinted they will have the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their LG G3 phones in the coming weeks.
