"Guardians of the Galaxy" has ballooned up from the franchise no one had heard of, to the franchise that everyone's obsessing over- even six months after the film was released.

Recently, fans bombarded director James Gunn with questions about the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," and what kind of plot details we might find in the 2017 sequel.

Gunn, to his credit, didn't say much (obviously, he can't, as Marvel has unbelievably strict anti-secret restrictions in place- the recurring joke is that the studio has "Marvel Snipers" ready to execute any celeb who talks too much about an upcoming film).

But Gunn did manage to say an awful lot about "Guardians 2."

First, when asked if the villainous Ronan the Accuser (played by Lee Pace) would return in the sequel, Gunn put his foot down, and officially stated that Ronan would not have a part in the second film. However, he left the door open for future sequels, admitting the only film he was sure about was "Guardians 2" (and given Marvel's previous track record with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, the Guardians will probably get three films in total).

Next, Gunn spoke about Groot's role in the next film. As anyone who saw "Guardians" will know (and if you haven't seen "Guardians..." what are you waiting for?), Groot is killed at the end of the film, but regrows as a small, dancing potted plant.

According to Gunn, that new Groot might not be the original hero- it may be his son (or daughter... do Groots have genders?). But either way, Gunn assured fans that Vin Diesel would still be voicing the character's "I am Groots," so it shouldn't make much of a difference.

Finally, when asked about Rocket Raccoon's love interest from the comics, Gunn made it clear- Lylla the space-otter has no place in "Guardians 2."

"You'll have to wait and see on Lylla. ... I think it's very important that Rocket is the only thing like him, which is the source of his sadness and loneliness... An otter girlfriend could get really cartoony really."

Do you wish "Guardians 2" was jam-packed with Ronan and Lylla? Or do you trust in Gunn to deliver another outer space adventure as exciting as "Guardians?" It's probably safe to let Gunn do his thing in peace- "Guardians" was pretty amazing, after all.
