Jennifer Lawrence says 'The Fappening' is disgusting; Winona Ryder among the latest celebrity victims in fourth wave of nude photo leaks
After a period of silence, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence has spoken out about the massive celebrity nude leak that exposed private photos of her and a hundred other female celebrities online without permission. Some of Lawrence's photos showed her nude or in a state of undress.
In her tell-all with Vanity Fair, where she is the cover girl for the magazine's November 2014 edition, she said that she felt "afraid and angry" about the ordeal.
She was quoted as saying, "Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world."
Lawrence also recalled the time when she was trying to write a statement in the aftermath of the leak. The actress has said that the photos leaked online were those from her iCloud account. She lambasted anybody who has taken a look at the private photos, and accused the curious who have managed to have seen the photos perpetrators of a sexual offense.
Buzzfeed pointed out that the website where the leaked photos first appeared, Reddit, is a a wholly owned subsidiary of Condé Nast. Condé Nast also owns vanity Fair. It is not clear whether Lawrence's appearance on the magazine is a settlement of sorts from the scandal that started on the social networking site.
Meanwhile, the fourth wave of leaked photos allegedly featured actress Winona Ryder, the Daily Beast reported. Aside from Ryder, other celebrities whose photos were recently leaked included "90210" star AnnaLynne McCord, singer Ingrid Michaelson and reality star Nick Hogan. Indie actress Zoe Kazan, who can be next seen opposite Daniel Radcliffe in "What If," and "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, are said to be the biggest victims in the latest wave of leaked photos. 147 personal images of Dobrev and 43 images of Kazan were reportedly released online without authorization.
