"Star Trek would be hitting back on theaters following their first two movies. The third film is said to be close to the original, according to one of the film franchise's actors. Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in the 2009 and 2013 reboot, dished during an interview with NBC's "Today" show. Quinto appeared in part of a promotion of his documentary series, "The Chair." The documentary is from Project Greenlight producer Chris Moore, and focuses on directors who recall their experiences in creating their first films.

"I think it's on the horizon.(T)hings are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months," the actor said, as quoted by Cinemablend.

41-year old Mexican-American television writer Robert Orci is said to be directing the upcoming film as the original director, J.J. Abrams, focuses on "Star Wars: Episode VIII." Orci is no stranger to the films, as he performed co-screenwriting duties since the 2009 "Star Trek" film reboot. IGN said Orci has already disclosed last month that he has accomplished the film's first draft. It is safe to say that 'Star Trek 3' would be officially pursued and that the film's premiere is speculated to be in the first quarters of 2016.

Simon Pegg, who played Scotty on the first two films, announced during the previous Toronto Film Festival about his thoughts about Abrams' involvement in "Star Trek 3" as reported by Trek. Pegg said, "I was worried about Abrams moving from Star Trek to Star Wars at first. I was in a movie theater and I got an Email that he was doing it and I immediately called him and said, 'You're not doing Star Wars now? You're going to abandon us like the older slightly less-cool sibling?' and he was like, 'Of course not.'"

The actor also confirmed Qunto's revelation about the upcoming film's production schedule. He said, "[We will start shooting Star Trek] next year...That is what I have been told. Please don't take this as Paramount's official line, but if we do make it next year and it goes by the usual standard of post-production, we should get it out for the 50th anniversary."
