The biggest "Minecraft" news in years (maybe ever) is MIcrosoft's bid to purchase Mojang, the developer that first created the superhumanly popular mining/building game. Reported on by the New York Times, Microsoft would pay more than $2 billion for the rights to "Minecraft"- an unbelievable sum for a single game.

But that's not the only "Minecraft" news going on right now. Amidst all this talk of a Microsoft buyout, Mojang is readying a new "Minecraft" update for the Xbox 360, this one labeled 1.8.

According to Christian Post, the update (referred to as "The Bountiful Update") has just been released.

Here's a quote from Mojang's Jens Bergensten (via KpopStarz), about their newest block building bounty:

"It's time for us to pre-release the next major Minecraft update he Bountiful Update! This will bring Minecraft to version 1.8, and should be officially be published in the launcher on Tuesday, September 2. This is the update that to date has taken the longest time to create (over 300 days), and is the result of many, many changes."

"These changes consist of both new features, and large game structure changes such as replacing the hard-coded 'block renderer' with a system that is able to read block shapes from data files, or performance enhancements such as multi-threading the client-side chunk rendering. We hope you will enjoy it!"

For the most part, "The Bountiful Update" fixes minor bugs in the game, but KpopStarz details a few major additions. One is a new achievement- "Overpowered," gained when the player creates a magic gold apple.

As well, new underwater enemies have been added to the game.

KpopStarz adds a few negative thoughts- apparently, the game is already being criticized by "Minecraft" players over social media.

They also add that the update may prompt new concerns with future updates, and may even postpone future release dates of "Minecraft" updates.

Check back soon for the latest on all the many "Minecraft" updates. Also, the little matter of that Microsoft buyout.
