Barely a day has gone by since we last heard news about "True Detective." But in the world of television, news tends to snowball, so a day later and more "True Detective" information has just popped up online.

Before, it was William Friedkin, director of "The Exorcist," who was reportedly in talks to join the series. Now, in an interview with The Daily Beast, series writer and creator Nic Pizzolatto has new information about what we'll actually be seeing in the acclaimed detective series' second season.

According to Pizzolatto, he is roughly halfway through writing the second season (unlike most television series, "True Detective" is written by a single writer and not a room full of them).

A while ago, Pizzolatto also mentioned that the second season would involve "hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system." But when asked about this by The Daily Beast, all he would say was, "I would actually just stick with 'set in California.'"

The Daily Beast prodded him a little more about the transportation system elements, but Pizzolatto would not elaborate further.

When asked about fans, and how many "True Detective" fans were upset with the nature of the first season finale, Pizzolatto had this to say:

"I'm extremely happy with the finale. It was exactly the finale I wanted the show to have. And that in no way means the details or symbology of True Detective were irrelevant or meaningless-it merely means they were misread by a certain percentage [of viewers]."

The other major detail PIzzolatto mentioned was the number of characters. Speculation has run wild about how many leads the second season would have, with rumors ranging from one to three, but PIzzolatto now says there will be four main characters.

True to "True Detective" form, he would not elaborate further.

Stay tuned for more "True Detective" news to come.
