StoreDot has unveiled a prototype of a device it has developed that can charge a mobile handset within just 30 seconds. The process uses bio-inspired nanotechnology to achieve that feat, according to DNA.

The Israeli firm discovered crystals called peptides that can store or release light energy. The crystals, which are called NanoDots, are cost-efficient, easy to make, and environment-friendly. Right now, StoreDot is developing ways to apply NanoDots to semiconductors, displays, and batteries, the report detailed.

StoreDot wants to disrupt the mobile device industry through the application of NanoDots. The company aims to replace the present components being used in building mobile devices with new and more superior components that are sustainable and more affordable, the report explained.

The bio-inspired nanotechnology that StoreDot discovered could potentially change the capabilities of various mobile devices. Among the areas the company is focusing on are semiconductors, bio-medical sensors, food bio-labeling techniques, and energy, DNA reported.
