Athens, Greece-based Q&A mobile app Locish obtained $820,000 for its seed funding round, a statement about the financing said.

Odyssey Jeremy Partners led the round which was also participated in by Jeremy Open Fund II and three unnamed angel investors from Silicon Valley. Proceeds from the latest round will be deployed towards revamping the functionality of the app and remaking its entire look and feel, the statement said.

Locish Co-Founder Grigoris Zontanos said in the statement, "We are delighted to have successfully raised that much money and gained our investors' trust. The seed funding came at a very critical time for us, when we had realized a number of necessary improvements and had also spotted some additional opportunities. We're now ready to take Locish to the next level."

With fresh funding, Locish will be re-launching the app. The app was first rolled out in March last year to provide travelers with recommendations from local residents so that they would not fall for tourist traps. In time, it became apparent that the locals themselves were also interested in utilizing Locish so they would also be able to find places around their home turf that would interest them.

To meet this need, Locish expanded its team and built on the earlier version of the app so that it would no longer be confined to tourists. Rather it would cater to an extended community, linking those with similar interests, providing help to others by giving them customized recommendations minus the unclear reviews and time-intensive Internet searches. As a result, Locish would allow its users to discover what they are seeking for "in real time and in a social, and interactive way," the statement said.

The fresh version of the app will be rolled out officially in May in New York City, San Francisco and Athens, Greece. Co-Founder Alex Christodoulou said in the statement, "We have reached out to all our users and have informed them about what's happening and our plans to change. The recent funding offered us the luxury to grow our team and work more productively and efficiently to deliver them an all-new, better-equipped app. We can't wait to offer our users a great experience."
