UK Prime Minister advisor Patrick Rock has been arrested for possession of child pornography materials. Rock is one of the pioneering minds of the country's Internet filtering program, according to TechCrunch.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister David Cameron said of the arrest: "This is an ongoing investigation so it would not be appropriate to comment further, but the Prime Minister believes that child abuse imagery is abhorrent and that anyone involved with it should be properly dealt with under the law."

After making a speech in Coventry, Cameron had expressed his shock over Rock's arrest. The latter, who had worked closely with the Prime Minister for twenty years, was arrested in February after authorities inspected computer units in No 10 Downing Street, where he worked on government policies. Following the arrest, Rock tendered his resignation as a policy adviser to Cameron, The Telegraph detailed.

According to Wired UK, the Internet filtering program created filters that blocked access to sites containing terms associated with porn. However, the program has been criticized because it also accidentally blocked sites related to drugs, alcohol, social media, violence, gambling, dating, and other terms, the report explained.
