UK-based Buzzmove raises $650K for seed funding round
Buzzmove has secured $650,000 for its seed funding round, TechCrunch reported.
The financing for the fresh Wayra UK incubator graduate came from Michael & Simon Blakey at Avonmore Developments, Launcha.com's Daniel McPherson and Tom Singh, Lean Investments' Andrew Weizs and Kabbee Chief Executive Officer Justin Peters. The UK-based removals comparison platform said it will be using proceeds from the round to get more vendors to the marketplace in preparation for its nationwide roll out, the report said.
This is the second time that Wayra UK has backed the startup. As part of the deal, Chairmaine Eggberry, one of the directors of Wayra UK is now a Non-Exec Director and Chairperson at Buzzmove. The startup has also appointed Blakey as an Investor Director, the report said.
Buzzmove Chief Executive Officer Becky Downing told TechCrunch, "We are first to market with our solution in Europe. [U.S.-based] Unpakt.com is our closest competitor, and they have also developed an algorithm based model to provide instant quotes." Founded in March last year, Buzzmove allows users to get "instant price quotes for their home removal without entering any of their personal information," information from CrunchBase showed.
It was first made available in beta in London starting November which gave the startup a chance to test its algorithms. The company's approach seeks to make conversion for removals firms more efficient while giving users a simplified removals experience, the report said.
Dowing told TechCrunch, "Our mission, is to take the stress out of physically moving, with Europe's first online price comparison and booking platform for home removals. Instant quotes. Exact quotes. And quality, pre-validated movers only. Using this platform, our customers can book their home move in three simple steps: Step 1: You plan your move using our proprietary inventory technology; Step 2: You compare exact prices and reviews; and Step 3: You pay a deposit, and hey presto - you've just booked your move in minutes, rather than days."
Because Buzzmove has inked an exclusive partnership with the British Association of Removers or BAR, it can confidently say that the vendors on its platform have been "thoroughly vetted and validated."
