Ellen DeGeneres made a mark in the 86^th Academy Awards. This was after she brought the Oscars closer to social media after she took a pose with some celebrities present during the awards night, reported BBC. After the photo, she posted it to her official Twitter account.

It would not be any surprise at all that Ellen's photo got retweeted after she posted it on Twitter. The remarkable thing was, that photo broke the record of retweets on the social media platform ever Twitter shared. DeGeneres, the host of the awards' night, pose along with Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Jared Leto and a dozen of other stars compressing to fit in the mobile phone's screen.

 The last time DeGeneres was a presenter in the Academy Awards was in 2007 where social media was not at its peak. Meanwhile, Ellen declared that she wanted that very selfie she took at the Oscars to be the most retweeted on Twitter, and she was right!
