Synopsys Inc, an electronic design automation (EDA) software vendor, recently closed the acquisition of Belgium-based firm Target Compiler Technologies. Financial terms of the said deal were not disclosed, according to NASDAQ.

Target Compiler Technologies is a company that develops programming and designing tools for application-specific instruction-set processors (ASIPs). ASIPs make up a design model that helps enhance productivity and efficiency, the report explained.

With the addition of Target, Synopsys will be able to beef up its ASIP offerings and enhance the flexibility and performance of its solutions. In addition, the deal will bring key personnel to the company, the report detailed.

Target's products include IP Designer, MP Designer, and IP Programmer software tools, which are used to develop ASIPs with better flexibility and efficiency. These tools can also be used to develop a new version of System on Chips (SoCs), the report stated.

In addition, integrating Target into the company will give Synopsys a competitive edge over its rivals such as Advent Software and Mentor Graphics Corp, NASDAQ reported.
