Support services company Babcock International Group has purchased Omani firm National Training Institute (NTI). The financial terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed, according to Education Investor.

NTI was formerly a part of Omani multinational local oil and gas and construction training firm Renaissance Services SAOG. The institute is also involved in the Omainsation, a training initiative designed to make the country less dependent on expatriate workers, the report explained.

Under the terms of the transaction, NTI will be integrated into the Skills & Learning unit of Babcock. The said unit also conducts trainings in different industries in the UK, the report detailed.

Skills & Learning managing director Austin Lewis said of the deal: "The acquisition of NTI provides Babcock with a very credible operating presence in Oman from which to further develop our international skills and learning strategy in the Middle East."

Meanwhile, incumbent NTI chief executive Lawrence Alva and his management group will be retained in the business, Education Investor reported.
