Google ad exec Susan Wojcicki to take over YouTube as chief
Google advertising head Susan Wojcicki is reportedly advancing onto YouTube as its new chief, according to a report published by The Information. The promotion was already confirmed by both Google and Wojcicki, wrote VentureBeat.
Wojcicki has headed Google's advertising team for a long time. The Internet giant's early operations were housed in her garage in Silicon Valley during those days. Right now, Google is trying to beef up YouTube's ad revenue. With her success in boosting Google's advertising business, Wojcicki seems to be the right person for the position, the report explained.
YouTube is also dealing with a problem with its content creators, which are not generating enough revenue from the site to sustain the business. When Wojcicki takes over the video-sharing company, this will be among the first problems that she would need to fix, or else YouTube could lose quality original vides that generate a lot of revenue, the report detailed.
According to The Information, incumbent YouTube chief Salar Kamangar would most likely stay with Google but take on a different role, VentureBeat reported.
