New York-based HowAboutWe.com said it had purchased Nerve.com. No financial details about the transaction were disclosed. A digital lifestyle company, HowAboutWe was founded in 2010 focused on helping people fall and stay in love. With headquarters in New York, it offers subscription-based products, HowAboutWe Dating and HowAboutWe for Couples.It is supported by Founder Collective, ff Venture Capital, High Line Venture Partners, RRE Ventures and Khosla Ventures, PE HUB reported.

Together with the acquisition announcement of Nerve.com, HowAboutWe also launched HowAboutWe Media, and independent lifestyle media network and advertising division within the firm. The newe endeavor signifies the evolution of HowAboutWe to a "comprehensive lifestyle brand centered on finding and sustaining love in the modern world."

With the purchase, Nerve will form part of the HowAboutWe Media network which intends to roll out a full editorial re-launch and re-design of its website which is focused on sex and culture in the next few weeks. The personals dating site of Nerve, Nerve Dating, will be integrated into the online community of HowAboutWe Dating which is comprised of close to 2 million singles, the company said in a statement. They will be informing its users through a note about the specifics of the transition and a free subscription to HowAboutWe Dating for six months.

As part of the agreement, Nerve Co-Founder Rufus Griscom and Chief Executive Officer Sean Mills will become part of the advisory board of HowAboutWe to guide its media strategy. They will help the project by capitalizing on their experience in building thriving media properties like the Babble and The Onion, the statement said.

The three additional properties of HowAboutWe Media are Swimmingly.com, a site focused on couplehood, Famously.com which is for celebrities and TheDateReport.com, its original site for dating and singledom. TheDateReport.com will also be undergoing an overhaul and will also be re-launched, the company said.

In the past quarter, HowAboutWe has strengthened its internal operations by adding to the members of its editorial team in order to support its expansion. Aside from having all-star bloggers and editors, the site also has an extensive list of external contributors, the statement said.
