Hong Kong and Taipei-based toy startup Roam & Wander was successfully funded recently via crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The company is presently gearing for the expansion of its retail operations into the US, according to TechCrunch.

Founder Jason Warren says the startup recently closed a new funding round led by existing investor Wl Harper. New angel investors from Taiwan and Hong Kong also participated in the said round. Warren added that the latest funding brings the firm's total finances to just under $1 million, the report detailed.

In Asia, the toy startup has already inked deals with Toys R Us, Apple retailer Studio A, and FNAC, to get its plush toy TuTu into their brick and mortar stores. TuTu is also available online on Amazon. In addition, the company is negotiating terms with other major retailers and attending the Game and Toy Fair in Hong Kong next month, the report explained.

TuTu was made to give kids in this digital age a more tactile way of interacting with mobile gadgets. The toy has a bunny face powered by an iPod Touch or iPhone screen that kids can play with using a set of toys with touch-enabled sensors, TechCrunch reported.
