Kingsoft Office Software, which developed an office suite that competes directly with Microsoft Office, has secured USD 50 milion in new funding from Morningside Group, GGV Capital and Shunwei China Internet Fund.

The newly injected fund will be used to support U.S operations and open partnership channels with OEMs (for mobile preloads), software developers and service providers outside China. Morningside and GGV will be taking seats on Kingsoft's board to help develop and propel the brand globally.

Kingsoft has recently been incorporated in the U.S and opened its North American headquarters in Palo Alto.

According to TechCrunch, a company spokesperson informed them that Kingsoft's primary focus in the U.S is to offer free software for mobile, while at emerging markets, it will focus on both PC and mobile office products. Kingsoft is also planning a major update to its iOS version that will add options that are similar to its Android apps.

With 120 million users worldwide on its PC version and 100 million registered users on its Android platform, Kingsoft Office Software, also has recently invested in Go Launcher, a Beijing-based, Android app maker with an existing 42 million active monthly users (which 70% of those users are located outside of China).
