Software designer Autodesk Inc. announced that it was planning to buy advanced software supplier Delcam for GBP172.5 million. The said deal would still be subject to conditions and regulatory approvals. It was expected to be completed early 2015. This was according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal.

"Today we are taking an important step on our path toward delivering a better manufacturing experience. Together Autodesk and Delcam will help further the development and implementation of technology for digital manufacturing," said Autodesk's president and CEO Carl Bass.

Delcam is one of the world's top suppliers of advanced software that provides automated solutions for various industries including aerospace and sports. The UK-based company currently has over 40 offices all over the world with around 600 employees.

Autodesk would be buying Delcam for GBP20.75 per share, or the total sum of GBP172.5 million. It would be using its non-US-based cash for the acquisition deal. The software firm would be providing more information about this transaction on February 2014, said the report.
