Kindred Healthcare Inc. announced the aquisition of 9 nursing centers for USD83 million, according to a report published by The Middle Market on its website.

Since it already leases the nursing centers from U.S. real estate property investor Healthcare Property Investors, Inc. (HCP Inc.), the deal makes way for the elimination of Kindred's expenses, the report stated.

Kindred is a healthcare company based Louisville, Kentucky which was founded in 1985. It is the largest diversified provider of post-acute services in the United States. It operates hospitals, rehabilitation services, and nursing centers through its subsidiaries nationwide, according to the company's website.

The said deal came shortly after the healthcare company purchased Senior Home Care Inc for USD95 million in November. This home care has 47 nursing homes, The Middle Market reported.

In September, Vibra Healthcare LLC bought 16 of Kindred's health facilities for USD186.5 million. Kindred said those buildings were outside the scope of its target markets, the report said.
