Aside from acquiring USD9 million in funds, Garantia Data had changed its name to RedisDB. The name change happened alongside its announcement of a USD9 million investment it received from Carmel Ventures, Capital Ventures and an anonymous strategic investor.

Including 2012's seed round, RedisDB raised USD13million in total funding. With the new capital, executives of RedisDB planned to bolster marketing efforts and sales. In its hopes of being available on a number of clouds, RedisDB also has plans to develop its existing products. As of the moment, services of RedisDB are available on AppFog and Amazon Web Services.

RedisDB co-founder and chief executive, Ofer Bengal said, "You can never underestimate Amazon or AWS, because their marketing power is very, very strong, so this is something we have to deal with."

"Bottom line, we do not see them as big competitor. I think they have a long way to go in terms of investing in their service in order to be competitive," Bengal continued.

RedisDB has over a thousand customers, which include Scopely, Illumina, Cirrus Insight and video game mogul EA.
