According to The Inquisitor, Tropical Storm Octave could bring heavy rains and potential flooding in the Southwestern portion of the US. The storm is still forming Baja California in Mexico and is expected to make landfall in the middle of this week.

Although forecasters do not see damaging winds with Octave, they said some parts of Texas could be flooded. Joseph McCormick, a meteorologist at AccuWeather.com said, "The biggest concern [in the United States] is that moisture gets drawn up from Octave and over a front draped over Texas." The resort area of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico would also be affected as well.

Hurricanes and storms can be costly in terms of the damage it brings. In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the Louisiana coastline and recorded property damage reaching USD 108 billion. In October last year, Hurricane Sandy hit North Carolina, New Jersey, New England, New York and Puerto Rico. It caused damages amounting to USD 68 billion.
