Barclays Plc named John Miller head of a newly created position of banking for the Americas, said an internal memo seen by Reuters. Miller is an investment banker at Barclays Plc who was promoted into the new position.

The heads of Barclays' global group based in the Americas would report to Miller, said the report from Reuters. The regional heads of the Americas would also report to the newly appointed chief. Miller currently runs Barclays' global industrials group as well as its global financial sponsors business. This was still according to the same Barclays' internal memo seen by Reuters.

A representative of Barclays confirmed the contents of the memo sent by Tom King and Eric Bommensath. Both were co-CEOs of corporate and investment banking at Barclays.

Paul Parker would take on sole leadership of the bank's global mergers and acquisitions operations. Parker previously headed the bank's global corporate finance and M&A group, reported Reuters. Meanwhile, Ros Stephenson would become chairman of banking on a global basis, said the memo. Stephenson was the previous head of global corporate finance and M&A.
