According to information and technology site TheNextWeb co-founder Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten, early-stage startups in the near future would stand to value at a billion dollars over the weekend.

Van Zanten is also a known tech entrepreneur and created the Twitter Counter and InBoxPro.com among others. Van Zanten had observed the proliferation of companies who had been defining the industries that they are dominating in had been getting younger. Citing examples, he said Twitter, Apple and Facebook had been in the industry just under a decade. The search engine giant Google had celebrated its 15 years of existence. Recently, one and a half year-old photo sharing platform Instagram had been sold to Facebook for about USD1 billion dollars.

Van Zanten was optimistic about the tech industry going to the phase in the next four years wherein entrepreneurial success would be achieved in a few days. Van Zanten said that a good example of why his prediction would come true would be the buyout of iPhone email client app Mailbox. Dropbox acquired Mailbox at an undisclosed amount 36 days after its launch. Although the price may had not been in the billion-dollar range, van Zanten said companies would only have to make sure that they have exceptional products in order to equal Mailbox or even Google's success.
