On Tuesday, US Senator and war veteran John McCain said that the members of Congress should be embarrassed and ashamed for the suspension of American soldiers' death benefits that were recently killed in Afghanistan.

McCain said while speaking on the Senate floor that the USD100000 payments had been denied to at least five families. This was after the US government had partially shut down due to unsettled budget issues. The US deadlock is now on its second week with small hope in reaching an agreement before the October 17 deadline that could put the US debt on default, reported Reuters.

McCain was an ex-Navy flier and a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He said angrily that it is now time for lawmakers to resolve their difference and reopen the deadlock in the government, reported Reuters. McCain also added that the government had to figure out how to raise the US debt limit that would soon due in 10 days.

According to a report from The Columbus Dispatch, the government deadlock had caused US trading to open with decreasing stock value which had moved steadily lower. During the final minutes of trading yesterday, the stocks had fallen. This added to a three week declined that had knocked the Standard & Poor's 500 index fell to 4%, added the report. The Columbus Dispatch also reported that a swing in the market would likely increase as the deadline for a debt resolution would soon come and US lawmakers had not yet come to an agreement to solve the budget issue of the country.
