The outspoken chief executive officer of Starbucks Corp Howard Schultz had urged fellow business leaders to push US lawmakers to end the stalemate that has caused the partial US shutdown. This was according to the CEO's statement last Monday.

Schultz wrote in a letter posted on Starbucks website, "This weekend I heard from several business leaders who shared their concern about our relative silence and impact in urging the political leadership to act on behalf of the citizenry. It is our responsibility to address the crisis of confidence that is needlessly being set in motion."

The company had released the letter from Schultz and sent it to top business executives, who were left unnamed by Starbucks.

The outspoken Starbucks CEO said, "I am utterly disappointed by the level of irresponsibility and dysfunction we are witness to with our elected political leadership."

Schultz was not immediately available to further comment regarding the report.
