A ticket holder from Maryland won the Mega Millions jackpot worth USD 189 million. The winning ticket was bought from a Dash In convenience store located in Quarterfield Road in Severn, Maryland. The owner of the store, Sukhwinder Singh, sold a ticket with the numbers 07-10-30-37-53. Singh also gets a USD 100,000 commission from the winning ticket.

The ticket holder has not yet claimed his prize. The winner has 182 days to get the jackpot at the Lottery Claim Center in Baltimore. If the winner opted to get the annuity, he could get the USD 189 million jackpot prize spread over 26 annual payments. The winner could also opt for the one-time cash payout which would be worth USD 130 million but the winner would be able to take home USD 86 million after taxes.

According to the Mega Millions website, every dollar spent for a lottery ticket would benefit the state where it was bought. Around 35% of the ticket sales support the government services of the member state. For the latest jackpot, the State of Maryland could expect to get USD 11.3 million in tax revenues from the latest Mega Millions win, CBS reported.
