The new version of the video game NBA 2K14 would be launched on October 1, according to CBSSports.com.  The next generation basketball game created by 2K Sports would go live on Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms.  According to the CBSSports report, NBA 2K14 would be featuring more realistic graphics not seen in previous versions.

A report from game website Polygon said 2K Sports got a TV commercial for the launch. The advertisement featured Miami Heat player LeBron James transitioning to his video game character.

Take Two Interactive, the owner of 2K Sports, posted strong revenues for the third quarter of 2013. The company reported a 76% increase year-on-year for its revenues. This was attributed primarily to the shipping of 4.5 million units of NBA 2K13. For the third quarter of 2013 which ended on December 31, 2012, Take Two had net revenues of USD 415.8 million. In the same period in 2011, the company only posted revenues of USD 236.3 million.
