Electronics maker LG would be launching the G2 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh on October 1. LG said the G2 was its most anticipated smartphone. According to the electronics firm, the new smartphone features the Android OS v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and has a 5.2-inch full HD display with a zero gap touchscreen. The phone would be light weight at only 143 grams. Its 13 megapixel camera has autofocus and optical image stabilization.

LG Saudi Arabia President John Lee said the new phone has an edge. "LG has created, after extensive research and studies, a new smart phone: The LG G2 with an edge over the competitors, and decided to launch it in the Saudi market - since its modern, efficient and technical features perfectly suit the Saudi consumer's preference and constant strive for the latest and the finest in technology innovation," he said.

For the second quarter this year, LG reported that it was able to ship 12.1 million smartphones. However, it posted net profits of KRW 156 billion or USD 139 million. This represented a drop from net profits posted in the same period last year.
