Now that Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) has finally and officially hit stores, analysts said the game was poised to become a very big hit. Analysts told CNET that it won't be long before the game would get extremely popular.

In a note to investors, Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush said GTA 5 would be able to get 14 million units sales around the world by the end of September. He also said the latest update to the GTA franchise could generate 24 million unit sales in the course of its lifetime. This would translate to sales of over USD 1.4 billion.

RW Baird Analyst Colin Sebastian shared Pachter's sentiments. He told investors in a note published by GamesIndustry.biz that GTA 5 would be able to raise an estimated USD 1 billion in retail sales in the first month of its release. The estimation was based on the retail unit price of USD 60 for the game.
