ZTE Corp of China is the fifth largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, had laid out plans to expand its cloud computing services abroad, even in the face of increasing demand for appeasement over security concerns.

According to ZTE General Manager for Cloud Computing and IT Products Operations Zhu Jinyun, in a telephone interview with Reuters, "Nowadays, data privacy has become a hot topic. But we understand that every customer has its own requirements and characteristics and we are always monitoring developments in the industry." He was interviewed while he was in Nanjing City, where the company operates a global cloud computing center.

ZTE runs only second to Huawei as the largest telecommunications equipment company in China. ZTE already provides cloud services to China's carriers, major internet companies as well as oil and energy companies.

Zhu stated that his target was a 10% contribution from  the cloud and enterprise revenues to the 2013 overall revenues of the company. This is an increase between 7% and 8% from last year.
