KeyLemon is a Swiss startup and a spin-off of the Idiap Research Institute. The company provides both face and speaker recognition technology for user authentication purpose. KeyLemon announced that it had received USD1.5 million in Series A funding.

The first external funding of the startup came from Debiopharm Investment and Swisscom Ventures. Debiopharm Investment is the investment arm of Swiss based Debiopharm Group while Swisscom Ventures is the corporate venture arm of Swisscom.

KeyLemon had aimed to provide users a solution to access and use data through correct identity verification. This is done through its face and speaker recognition technology. The company offers solutions by identifying how the user looks like and the sound of their voice. This is an alternative or complementary method of authentication to username and password. KeyLemon offers the app in PCs, smartphones and tablets.

The company also offers the applications for free for direct customer use through Mac and Windows app.
