French multinational automobile and motorcycle maker Peugeot Citroen would be stopping production in one of its plants earlier than scheduled. The Aulnay-sous-Bois car plant operations would be affected as most of its employees would be transferred to Peugeot's other facilities.

The Citroen C3 subcompact assembly held in the said plant would come to a halt early in November. However, Peugeot said there would still be some portions of the production that would continue after that month.

The schedule to wind down manufacturing on the Aulnay-sous-Bois site this November came earlier than the 2014 initial time table. Last July, the French carmaker had said that it would be restructuring its operations. The production halt in Aulnay is one part of the restructuring plan.

Aulnay has 2,800 workers. Half of them had already been moved to the carmaker's other production sites. The company spokeswoman said, "Soon there will not be enough staff left to sustain vehicle assembly."

After the Volkswagen Group, Peugeot Citroen is the second largest automobile maker in Europe.
