Christopher Lane, 22 years of age, was jogging while on vacation in his girlfriend's home in Oklahoma when he was fatally shot in the back. In an apparent 'thrill kill' incident, three teenagers were arrested and charged with the murder of the Australian baseball player.

According to prosecutors, James Francis Edwards is being charged with murder for the death of Lane. He was in the passenger seat of a car where the driver was Michael Dewayne Jones. Another teen, Chancey Allen Luna, shot lane while he was riding from the backseat.

The police report indicated that Jones admitted the three teens were 'bored' and had shot and killed the victim 'for fun'. Witnesses saw Lane fall into a ditch with blood from his back, panting heavily before emergency services arrived on the scene.

An endowment fund for the family of the late Lane was opened and had already raised USD113,000. This was according to the website 'gofundme'. The said donations were to cover the expenses to allow Lane's family to travel to Oklahoma from Australia to receive his body and fly him back to Melbourne.
