Today, the New York-based startup Unite US announced that it had raised USD2 million in seed funding from numerous private investors. Unite US was established by three past and present members of the US Armed Forces. The startup had been in stealth mode but had planned to go public this fall. The startup is directed to help veterans to connect with both public and private agencies. This would help them in their transition to civilian life and create a community that could help veterans in their post-service careers.

There are around 2.2 million veterans in the US according to the 2010 estimates of the US Veterans Affairs agency. It was also shown, through a data by the same agency, that higher rate of unemployment for veterans are seen from the most recent Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Unite US wanted to address the market through a designed platform to bring vets under one digital roof.
