Procter and Gamble recalls dry pet food for salmonella contamination

The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) announced the voluntary recall of some lots of dog and cat food for possible Salmonella contamination. The recall affected P&G brands Eukanuba Dry dog food, Iams Dry dog food and Iams Dry cat food. Only dry pet food with specific lot codes manufactured during a ten-day window were affected by the recall. The recalled bags represented only 0.1% of the company's annual production. These products were also only distributed in the US. So far, no salmonella-related illnesses have yet been reported.

P&G urged all consumers affected by the recall to stop using the products. The company has advised that complaints can be coursed through P&G's toll-free number at 800-208-0172 from Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. To know if the product they purchased was affected by the recall, customers can check out the press release issued by the company in a pdf document available on www.iams.com.
