Skylanders action figures sales surpass all action-figure sales in the US and Europe this year to date, according to a released statement by Activision Publishing Inc.. In its financial statements, Skylanders action figures sales also surpassed all toys in the United Kingdom this year to date, as of June 30.

Skylanders is a video games series bestseller published by Activision Publishing. The games are played with accompanying action figures that interact via a "Portal of Power" that changes colors and reads the figures' tags through near field communication. Skylanders has generated over USD1.5 billion in global retail sales. The Skylanders Giants has been declared as overall number one in console and handheld game in terms of dollar sales.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said, "We began something very special with Skylanders and the magic of bringing toys to life through a video game. But it's not just about the game. We know the toys have to be just as creative and imaginative as the kids that play with them, and that's why we're so excited to bring even more innovations to this genre when Skylanders SWAP Force(TM) comes out in October."

Activision Publishing Inc. is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, a California-based gaming company. Activision Blizzard is the second largest when it comes to sales in the gaming industry.
